Welcome to the second Climathon Skopje 2024: Shaping a Greener City

For the second consecutive year, startups, innovators, enthusiasts, students, and activists will come together to compete for the best solution to improve air quality in Skopje.
We invite you to apply and participate in this inspiring two-day hackathon, designed to motivate, educate, and foster collaboration. Held in a friendly and supportive atmosphere, participants will benefit from teamwork and expert guidance throughout the event.
The winning team will be awarded 6,000 EUR, generously provided by Sparkasse Bank, to implement and test their innovative solution in practice. Join us for this exciting opportunity to make a real impact!
What is Climathon?
Climathon is a global movement that brings together innovators, entrepreneurs, students, and citizens to solve pressing climate challenges around the world.
Climathon is a city-based initiative of EIT Climate-KIC that offers a pathway to action for anyone who wants to create local solutions to solve climate challenges in cities.
CEED Hub Skopje has the license to organize the Climathon events, and in Skopje for the second time. We look forward to many innovative solutions that will contribute to transforming Skopje into a zero-carbon city.
By putting Skopje on the world map of cities combating climate change, we gain access to the newest trends, innovations, and support in achieving our goal, of living a clean and healthy life.
Goals of Climathon Skopje 2024
The key goals of Climathon Skopje 2024 are:
– Raise awareness of the urgent environmental challenges impacting Skopje and the region.
– Foster innovation by encouraging participants to create practical, scalable solutions to local environmental problems.
– Empower local communities to take ownership of climate action by involving youth, businesses, and policymakers in the event.
– Support sustainability by driving solutions that contribute to long-term environmental protection and resilience in Skopje.
Organization
The event is structured as an intensive 2-day hackathon where teams of participants work on developing solutions to predefined environmental challenges specific to Skopje, such as air pollution, energy efficiency, and waste management. Expert mentors guide the teams throughout the event, and the participants pitch their ideas to a panel of judges.
Impact
Climathon aims to have a lasting impact on Skopje’s environmental policies and practices by empowering local talent to take on climate challenges.
The winning project from Climathon Skopje 2024 will receive financial support from our proud sponsor Sparkasse Bank Macedonia, as well as mentoring support to further develop and implement their solutions in collaboration with local businesses and authorities.
By driving practical solutions and fostering community-driven initiatives, Climathon Skopje aims to have a vital role in reducing Skopje’s carbon footprint and building a more sustainable city for future generations.

Who can participate?
Teams and individuals with innovative ideas can be part of the Climathon. A maximum of 10 teams will be selected to participate.
Startups, companies, individuals, teams, schools, faculties, or any kind of enthusiast are welcome to register for the upcoming Climathon in Skopje.
Whether you have or doesn’t have an innovative idea, or you have or doesn’t have a team, it is not a problem.
The Climathon team will help you match with other team members or provide you with a team with an already existing idea. Just apply and show up!

Sponsors and awards
The second Climathon in Skopje is again supported by Sparkasse Bank Macedonia which is a company among the leaders in promoting sustainable and responsible living as well as supporting social entrepreneurship with its specific services.
The winning team will receive an award of 6,000 EUR from Sparkasse Bank Macedonia for the implementation of the winning solution.
Other awards include:
- The winning team is automatically accepted as a participant in one of the acceleration programs of CEED Hub and has the opportunity to pitch in front of the CEED Business Angels Club.
- The first and second winning team receives a 6-month co-working space in the CEED Hub.
- First, second, and third-best solutions receive 6-month business support by CEED Hub Skopje for the commercialization of their ideas (mentorship, networking, and access to additional finance, professional advice, training, consultancy, and technical knowledge).
- The first, second, and third-best solutions receive media promotion by CEED networks.

Professionals, mentors, stakeholders, and youth will share their knowledge and opinions on the subject, providing valuable information for the teams to tackle the burning issues of our city.
